How to Break Your Negative Thinking

As a young man reading Tony Robbins, gave me an intellectual architecture, within which to set up my process of self discovery, experiment with different exercises and process some of the more esoteric happenings inside my being.

I read Tony Robbins for the first time in my college years. His book “Awaken The Giant Within”, gave me great insight into how to use my physiology and my emotions, to get the results that I was seeking on a personal and professional level. As a young man, it gave me an intellectual architecture, within which to set up my process of self discovery, experiment with different exercises and process some of the more esoteric happenings inside my being.

In this short 8 minute video Tony works with 4 women live on national TV, to move them to the kind of personal results they seek, even while they are surrounded by certain personal issues. The video is titled “How to Break Your Negative Thinking”. His basic premise is, if we want new results or outcomes, we need to create new actions; and our actions are often related to our emotional state. And this is where the use of physiology comes into play, to change certain negative emotional states. I love the framework and I hope you enjoy it to. Have a great Sunday.

How to Create a Beautiful Life

Bentinho’s words comes from a deep space, and one that has always vibrated deep down inside for me. In this video he speaks about how to create the life that you want. He articulates that everyone can contribute to the global transformation that is going on.

Bentinho Massaro is a young, dynamic and a very different teacher, from our traditional concepts of what a teacher should be. Currently we often find him smoking a cigar, while explaining some esoteric but practical teaching. But don’t get fooled by his external demeanour. His words come from a deep space, and one that has always vibrated deep down inside for me. Several years ago (I think maybe 8 or 10 years ago) as he was an upcoming teacher, I had made a small modest donation to his work, across the world (I think USD 25 or 50), since I thought his teachings should spread. Not many knew him yet, but he sent a personal message to thank, although he had no clue who I was. I am happy to see him take his teachings forward over the years.

In this video Bentinho speaks about how to create the life that you want. He articulates that everyone can contribute to the global transformation that is going on (the talk is in 2017). If you want to create a fantastic life and achieve your goals faster he says, you have to be creating and creative, ‘Don’t just say ‘Oh, something is missing from the world, I’ll just watch television, complain about it, and go back to eating pizza.’ Do something about it!’. According to him, if one stops creating and becomes passive, one drifts into the collective unconscious, which has a low frequency / vibration. He advises us to prioritise the things that truly inspire us and then go for them, no matter what other people say.

There are no wrong feelings

“What you feel, it’s never wrong, that you feel that way. It may not be the right guide to what you should do…but it is right that you should have the feeling” says Alan Watts in this video.

Quite often people are terrified of their feelings. Of course accepting our feelings and acting on them are two very different things and we do not need to act on every feeling. Feelings can come and go, but accepting them, sometimes going deep into a feeling, is a luxury we often do not allow ourselves. Over time I have learnt that we do not need to control everything inside and can relax and accept our feelings, and the glimpses they give us, of our own soul.

“What you feel, it’s never wrong, that you feel that way. It may not be the right guide to what you should do…but it is right that you should have the feeling” says Alan Watts in this video. He concludes the video by saying, “…that the expression, the recognition, the acceptance of what is honestly felt, is the moral equivalent of the vision, that whatever exists, is a manifestation of the divine.”

How do I see these videos?

Can we see these videos with one pointed attention? Most of them are just 10 minutes. Can we hold our focus for just 10 minutes to each word said? Without any internal chatter, nor any mental dialogue. More than the video or what is being said, how we listen to it, with what inner attitude we come to it, will make all the difference.

Addiction to Thinking: Eckhart Tolle

Thinking and our thoughts, give us our pseudo sense of self, and thus most are unwilling to let it go. Today’s video addresses our addiction to thoughts.

As a child I would spend several moments, just looking at my ceiling (mum would always ask me what was I looking at?) or if I was lying down in the rear seat of the car, I would look at the sky from the rear glass and imagine there was nothing, absolutely nothing and that there never was or is anything. This kind of blew my mind and I later realised, these were unconscious practices on the spiritual  path itself. Now I can see these were lovely moments of “no thought”. Not “no thought” as in some dull non thinking way, but somehow an expansion and “completely filled” moments, often beyond what I could absorb.

Today’s video addresses our addiction to thoughts. And suggests ways in which we can break this excessive habit of “thinking”. Thinking and our thoughts, according to Eckhart Tolle, give us our pseudo sense of self and thus most are unwilling to let it go. One suggestion is to bring in “presence”. Thoughts can come and go, but our awareness, our presence, can be anchored in the present moment, mindfully. He demonstrates this to the questioner beautifully in the talk. Continually become more aware of the present moment.
